• Well I've been sitting still a lot, but today I'm off and riding. No more pouting, no more resting. Let the adventure continue! #

    Alisa,

Wow , saw your pictures from Ecuador, its looks you go where people tell you to go. That’s wonderful but, its quite an adventure remote sites. Don’t worry, it si part of the adventure that some day you won’t regret a mile of it. It is scare sometimes, where I am , where I am doing here, my bike mechanics etc etc…
Today, Saw you turning back to Puquio in your way to Cusco. Hopefully is nothing wrong. I want to see that ’spot’ working ahead.
I am with you on this, day by day, my spirit go with you, weather is bad or good. GOOD!!!!
Love your words when the little girl gave you pastries for any money . That’s my continent and exemplary way of life for our humanity. (It will go to my thread)

Gaston, I was climbing the mountainside and I hit a wall of rain. I had to decide whether to blast through it, or just return to Puquio, which was 10 km away. It as 2 pm and I was getting SOAKED…

Puquio is a dreary little town and I had SUCH altitude sickness, I am glad I turned around. I felt like my left eye was going to fall out of my head, and I was so nauseous I could not eat anything. Turns out Puquio is only 10,600 feet, but I climbed to just shy of 15000 when I crossed the pass today.

I’ve been drinking lots of Mate de Coca, and a kind (old!) lady that served me the tea yesterday then agan this morning, she offered me some of her private stash of leaves as a gift. I suffered all through the high passes until I remembered the leaves and stuck a bunch in my mouth. They worked!

Hindsight tells me I never would have made it over the pass if I’d tried. Glad I listened to my intuition.

I am also trying to take a littlel better care of myself–I keep exhausting myself and getting sick!

    Thanks for following! ~Alisa
